Does India require an online arrival card?

Beginning October 1, 2025, foreign nationals entering India are required to submit an online e-Arrival Card

This new digital process replaces the traditional paper disembarkation card to speed up immigration procedures at airports.

Key details about the e-Arrival Card:

  • How to submit: The card must be completed online via the official Indian Visa website or the "Indian Visa Su-Swagatam" mobile app.

  • Submission window: You can submit the application up to 72 hours before your arrival.

  • Required information: The form asks for standard details including:
    • Full name and nationality
    • Passport number
    • Purpose of your visit
    • Address and contact information in India

    • Transition period: During a transition period of up to six months, physical disembarkation cards will still be available. However, travelers are strongly encouraged to use the digital option for a faster experience.

    • Exemptions: Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders are exempt from completing this form.

    • Confirmation: After submitting the form, you will receive a digital confirmation. It is advisable to have a digital copy or printout of this confirmation to present to immigration officers if requested.
