Do US citizens require a visa for Turkey?

As of 2025, U.S. citizens with ordinary (non-official) passports do not need a visa to travel to Turkey for tourism or short-term business purposes, provided their stay does not exceed 90 days within a 180-day period.

However, here are a few important notes:

  • Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your entry date into Turkey and have blank pages for entry/exit stamps.

  • Longer Stays or Other Purposes: If you're planning to work, study, or stay longer than 90 days, you must apply for a sticker visa through a Turkish consulate or embassy before traveling.

  • Official or Diplomatic Passport Holders: These travelers still require a visa, regardless of the length of stay.
