You Completed Your Global Entry Interview—Now What?
Congrats! You’ve made it through one of the biggest steps in the Global Entry process: the interview. Whether it was a breeze or felt like airport security with extra questions, you’re probably wondering… what happens next? Don’t worry—we’ve got you.
✅ Here’s What to Expect After Your Interview
Once your Global Entry interview is complete, the CBP officer will submit your final approval for review. In many cases, approval is granted on the spot, but sometimes it takes a few days to process.
⏳ 1. Wait for Final Approval
You’ll receive an official notice via email or when you log into your TTP (Trusted Traveler Program) account at ttp.dhs.gov.
Look for the status to change from "Conditional Approval" to "Approved."
📌 Timing Tip: While some approvals are instant, others may take up to 7–10 business days.
📬 2. Watch for Your Global Entry Card (Optional)
If you're a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and opted for Global Entry with the card benefit, you’ll receive it by mail within 2–4 weeks of approval.
This card isn’t needed for airport kiosks, but it is required for land border crossings.
💡 Don’t forget: You’ll need to activate the card once it arrives.
Just log into your TTP account and follow the instructions.
🛫 3. Add Your Known Traveler Number (KTN) to Airline Profiles
Once approved, you’ll receive your Known Traveler Number (KTN)—this is the key to unlocking TSA PreCheck benefits (included with Global Entry!).
Be sure to:
- Log into each airline’s frequent flyer profile
- Add your KTN under travel preferences
- Double-check it's included every time you book a flight
✈️ With your KTN, you’ll skip long security lines, keep your shoes on, and move faster through TSA PreCheck lanes.
