Can the APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Be Issued Digitally?
Yes, the APEC Business Travel Card is available in a digital format in many participating APEC economies.
🌐 Digital ABTC (Virtual Card)
The Digital ABTC, also called the Virtual ABTC, allows travelers to access their card electronically, usually through a secure mobile app or portal. It offers the same benefits as the physical card, including:
- Expedited immigration lanes
- Multiple-entry access to participating APEC economies
- Easy updates and faster delivery
Download the APEC vABTC App
Most participating economies use the official APEC Business Mobility Group (BMG) mobile app, available on iOS and Android.
- Go to the App Store or Google Play
- Search for “APEC vABTC”
- Download and install the app
🇺🇸 What About U.S. Citizens?
As of now, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issues only physical ABTCs to U.S. citizens. The digital ABTC is not yet supported for U.S. applicants.
So if you're a U.S. business traveler:
- You will receive a physical card by mail once approved.
- You cannot use a virtual version in place of the physical card.
