REAL ID Checklist
To apply for a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card, you’ll need to bring specific documents to your DMV or licensing office. Here's a simple checklist to help you prepare:
1. Proof of Identity
Bring one of the following:
- Valid, unexpired U.S. passport or passport card
- Certified copy of a U.S. birth certificate
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
- Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
📌 Photocopies are not accepted—must be original or certified documents.
2. Proof of Social Security Number
Bring one of the following:
- Social Security card
- W-2 form or 1099 with full SSN
- Pay stub with full SSN
3. Proof of State Residency (2 documents)
Bring two of the following showing your name and residential address:
- Utility bill (electric, water, internet, etc.)
- Rental or lease agreement
- Mortgage statement
- Bank statement
- Official government mail (e.g., tax return, voter registration)
4. Name Change Documents (if applicable)
If your current name is different from your identity documents:

5. Appointment (if required)
