Do I need a flight itinerary to expedite my passport application?
To qualify for expedited passport processing, you must provide proof of upcoming international travel that is scheduled within 14 days of when we will receive your passport application documents.
Acceptable Forms of Travel Evidence
You can submit one of the following:
Flight Itinerary
A confirmed flight reservation or e-ticket issued directly by an airline. Third-party booking confirmations (e.g., from travel aggregators) are not always accepted unless they clearly show airline details.
Cruise Itinerary
A confirmed cruise booking that includes your name and the date of international departure.
Business Travel Letter
A signed letter on official company letterhead addressed to the U.S. Department of State that includes:
- The traveler’s name
- Dates and destinations of international business travel
A statement confirming the travel is for business purposes
Important: The traveler may not sign their own business travel letter. It must be signed by a separate company representative or colleague.
