What is Enrollment on Arrival (EoA)?
Here’s everything you need to know about how EoA works, who’s eligible, and what to expect.
What is Enrollment on Arrival?
Enrollment on Arrival allows conditionally approved Global Entry applicants to complete their required in-person interview during the international arrivals process, skipping the need to schedule a separate appointment at a CBP enrollment center.
This is especially useful for frequent international travelers or anyone facing long wait times for appointments at their nearest center.
Who Is Eligible?
To use Enrollment on Arrival, you must:
- Have submitted a Global Entry application online via https://ttp.dhs.gov
- Have received Conditional Approval from CBP
- Be entering the U.S. from an international trip through a participating airport
How Does It Work?
Step 1: Apply and Get Conditionally Approved
First, submit your Global Entry application online and pay the $100 fee. Once your background check is complete and you are conditionally approved, CBP will notify you through your Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) dashboard.
Step 2: Arrive at a Participating Airport
When you return to the U.S. from an international trip, go through immigration as usual. At participating airports, signage will guide you to the Enrollment on Arrival lane or instruct you to inform a CBP officer that you want to complete your Global Entry interview.
Step 3: Complete the Interview
A CBP officer will:
- Verify your identity and documents
- Ask a few standard interview questions
- Take your photo and fingerprints
This typically takes just a few minutes.
Step 4: Wait for Final Approval
Once your interview is complete, CBP will finalize your application. Approval is usually granted shortly after, and you'll receive your Known Traveler Number (KTN), which allows you to use both Global Entry kiosks and TSA PreCheck.
What to Bring to Your EoA Interview
- Valid passport(s)
- Driver’s license or other valid photo ID
- A copy of your Conditional Approval letter (print or digital)
Participating Airports
Enrollment on Arrival is available at over 60 airports in the U.S. and select international preclearance locations. Some major participating airports include:
- John F. Kennedy (JFK)
- Los Angeles International (LAX)
- San Francisco (SFO)

Final Tips
- You must already be conditionally approved before using EoA—this is not a walk-in service for new applicants.
- There’s no additional fee for using Enrollment on Arrival.
- Plan for a few extra minutes at customs in case there’s a wait for an available officer.
