What Can I Expect During the Global Entry Interview?
The Global Entry interview is a required step in the application process, and it’s generally quick, straightforward, and nothing to worry about. It’s conducted by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer and usually lasts about 10 to 15 minutes.
What to Expect:
1. Document Review
You’ll be asked to bring a few key documents, including:
- A valid passport (and Green Card, if applicable)
- Your conditional approval letter
- A second form of ID, such as a driver’s license
- Any other documents requested in your appointment confirmation
2. Background and Travel Questions
The officer may ask you simple questions about:
- Your recent travel history
- Your employment
- The purpose of your Global Entry membership
These are just to verify the information in your application and ensure you’re a low-risk traveler.
3. Fingerprinting and Photo
Your fingerprints will be taken digitally, and you’ll have your photo taken for your Global Entry ID card.
After the Interview:
In many cases, your application will be approved on the spot. If not, you may receive a final decision via email or through your Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) account within a few days.
