How do I renew my Global Entry?
Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States.
Membership is valid for five years, and renewing it in a timely manner ensures you maintain your access to TSA PreCheck and hassle-free international reentry.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to renew your Global Entry membership.
Step 1: Know When to Renew
You can renew your Global Entry membership one year before it expires. It’s advisable to renew early—if you submit your renewal before the expiration date, you can continue to use Global Entry for up to 24 months after expiration while your renewal is being processed.
To check your expiration date:
- Log in to your Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) account at ttp.dhs.gov.
- The expiration date is displayed on your dashboard under your membership information.
Step 2: Submit Your Renewal Application
- Go to https://ttp.dhs.gov and log in to your account.
- Click the "Renew Application" button next to your Global Entry membership.
- Carefully review and update your personal information, including:
- Address
- Employment history
- Travel history
- Pay the $120.00 non-refundable fee using a credit or debit card.
Step 3: Wait for Conditional Approval
After submitting your application, you’ll receive a status update:
- Approved: Renewal is complete.
- Conditionally Approved: You’ll be asked to schedule an interview.
- Pending Review: No action needed yet; wait for further notice.
Step 4: Schedule and Attend an Interview (if required)
If CBP determines an interview is necessary:
- Log in to your TTP account and select an interview location and time.
- Bring the required documents:
- Valid passport(s)
- A driver’s license or another valid ID
- Any updated legal documents (e.g., if your name changed)
Alternatively, you may be eligible for Enrollment on Arrival (EoA), which allows you to complete your interview when arriving in the U.S. from an international trip—no appointment needed.
Step 5: Track Your Status
You can monitor your application status by logging into your TTP account. Once approved, your new expiration date will be displayed on your dashboard and updated on your Global Entry card (if applicable).
Tips
- Update your travel profiles (e.g., airline frequent flyer accounts) to reflect your Known Traveler Number (KTN) if it changes.
- If your passport has changed, make sure to update the number in your TTP account.
- Children must also renew their membership separately.
