Can I travel to China without a visa?

In most cases you need a visa to travel to China.

Travelers from most countries are required to obtain a valid visa before entering China, unless they qualify for certain transit exemptions or short-term stays.

Some of the qualifications are:

  • Transiting to a third country ( (i.e., not returning to the country of origin)
  • Traveling to specific designated cities.
  • Possession a valid international travel document and onward airline ticket within the 240-hour window.

Travelers should contact their airline and nearest consulate to confirm they meed the specific qualifications.
